National and State Certification Exams

Once you have graduated from an approved accredited PTA degree program you will then need to sit both state level and national certification exams before you can apply for your PTA license.

The state exam focuses on your assessing your understanding of local laws and regulations as they will apply to and govern your work practices, ethics and environment.

The National Physical Therapy Exams (NPTE) are developed and administered by the US Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) to ensure a minimum standard or knowledge and competence after graduation and before entering into the workplace.
