Once you have graduated from an accredited program it is required by Hawaii law that you obtain a license to work as a Physician Assistant there.

The Hawaii Medical Board lets supervising physicians decide on-site supervision parameters. PA’s in Hawaii can prescribe, dispense and administer medication and Schedule III-V controlled substances as delegated by the supervising physician. Prescribing Schedule II drugs by PA’s is restricted to inpatient hospital settings and under supervising physician delegation. PA’s in Hawaii will need to apply for an additional Controlled Substance License.
